Cocktails & catch ups: Loves Company

We recently had some of the hottest days of the year so far, and on one sweltering Monday evening I met up with a good friend of mine for dinner and a catch up. You know how it is: you start chatting away and before you know it, the meal is over but you’ve still got so much ground to cover. What to do, what to do?

Well, the answer is usually crystal clear, and also gin-based if you’re me.

We decided on Loves Company, which you can find just outside Old Street station, and it just happens to be next to another favourite haunt of mine, Shoreditch Grind.

We absolutely loved it. It’s both open and cosy at the same time, and would be ideal for a couple of cocktails with the girls as well as date night. Plus if you’re having a nightmare of a first date then the underground is only a few metres away so you can make a quick escape.

You can thank me later.

Strangely enough, I think one of my favourite things about this particular bar was the menu itself. With a Treasure Island kind of vibe to it, it’s easy to feel like you’re miles away once you gravitate from Old Street into the exotic vine-decorated bar.

Loves Company describes itself as a Cocktail Palace and Toastie Haven, and while we didn’t sample the latter, we loved the former. I went with the gin-based (told you) Sink the Pink, and Sophie went for Blossoming Kiss. Whisky. She’s braver than me.

Anyone know what Liquid Polygamy actually is?

Instagrammable, I’m sure you’ll agree.

See you there? I’ll get the next round in.
